Chelsea indeed lost a superstar and one of the best players in the world when the club sold Eden Hazard to Real Madrid, in a deal that could reach up to £130m.
Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso has called back former team-mates Eden Hazard and Alvaro Morata to return back to the club following their respective summer transfers to Madrid.
While Hazard made his dream move to Real Madrid, Morata made the switch to city rivals Atletico Madrid.
After struggling to impress last season under Maurizio Sarri, Morata spent the second half of last season on loan at Atletico Madrid, with Diego Simeone’s side making the deal permanent at the end of the campaign.
While Hazard went down as one of the greatest players in Chelsea’s history, scoring 110 goals in 352 appearances, Morata struggled to live up to his club record transfer fee of £60m, scoring 24 goals in 72 games.
Marcos Alonso clearly misses his teammates and have urged the duo to return back to the Bridge.
Alonso posted a year-old picture of the trio and N’Golo Kante on his Instagram story on Tuesday and wrote: “Can you come back guys? @alvaromorata @hazardeden_10”
The Spaniard also included a poll on the story captioned “U want them back?”
83 per cent of fans voted ‘Yes’ in that poll.
New Chelsea boss Frank Lampard was unable to go to the transfer market and sign a replacement for either of the two departed players due to a transfer ban placed on the club. Rather, Lampard has had to trust his academy players to fill in the gap.
