Chelsea legend Frank Lampard established himself as a prolific scorer from midfield, becoming Chelsea’s all-time leading goalscorer, with 211 goals scored in all competitions for the Blues.
After 13 years at the club, Lampard didn’t only leave Stamford Bridge as a legend but many believe he’s one of the greatest players to have played for the club.
Since leaving Chelsea in 2014, Chelsea are yet to have a high scoring midfielder, but Chelsea youngster Mason Mount is proving that he can fill the void left by the legend who’s now in charge of the club.
The 20-year-old youngster has been called up to the England national team for the International games, and Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley believes that the youngster will even make the squad for the Euro 2020 tournament.
Barkley has also seen some similarities between Mount and Lampard as he admitted that Mount has an eye for goal just like the Blues legend turned manager.
Barkley said: “I believe he will be in the squad 100 per cent when it comes to it. Then it is down to him but I believe he will be [in the England Euro 2020 team] because of how good he is and the things I have seen this season.
“The way he arrives in the box and gets shots away early, it is similar to Lamps. He has a really good technique with how he finishes as well. He is a brilliant player.”
“He is hungry to improve, hungry to score and hungry to help the team in any way he can, if it is out on the left, in the No10 or in a midfield three.”
