18 year old Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour made his full Chelsea debut in the 7-1 Carabao Cup win over Grimsby on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge.
The Scottish midfielder was one of the standout players for Chelsea and former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas was impressed with Gilmour’s performance.
“He played amazing tonight,” Fabregas tweeted.
“Personality is the most important at this age and he’s got it all right.
“Now time to keep learning and taking advantage of these games to prove the coach he’s good enough.”
Gilmour has previously admitted he models his game on Fabregas.
“As a fellow midfielder, I look up to Cesc Fabregas in the Chelsea first team,” Gilmour was quoted by the Scottish Sun almost two years ago.
“So what I do is analyse his game on the videos, so I can take stuff from his matches into my game so I can make myself much better in midfield.
“I’m watching and just taking in parts of his game.
“I’m looking at his range of passing and how he moves the ball quick, how he gets out of small, tight spaces and makes the pitch bigger.
“Everything Cesc Fabregas does is good.”
