Chelsea are hoping the club will be allowed to sign players in January after launching an appeal against the transfer ban to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Signings are expected at the club when the ban gets lifted and the Blues are already working behind the scenes on potential signings.
According to Soccer Link via Daily Star, the Blues have held talks over a potential swoop for Valencia attacking fullback Jose Gaya.
The 24-year-old is one of Spain’s top talents and has represented his country six times. He has made 197 appearances in all competitions for Valencia and could replace Marcos Alonso, who finds himself out of favour under Frank Lampard.
Alonso is yet to start a Premier League game for Chelsea this season with Lampard preferring Emerson Palmieri at left-back but he could get his chance against Wolves on Saturday if Emerson isn’t fully fit after suffering a minor injury while on international duty with Italy.
A message on Emerson’s Twitter account after Italy’s 2-1 win against Finland read: “Very important victory today guys. Unfortunately I had a small injury, but it’s nothing serious. Let’s continue like this!”
