Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater, currently on loan at Burnley, suffered a torn ankle after he was attacked by six men during a night out.

Reports claim Drinkwater approached Scunthorpe United star Kgosi Ntlhe’s girlfriend, causing a scuffle to break out. Bouncers then threw Drinkwater out of the club and he was then attacked by six men.

According to Daily Mail, Chelsea will not discipline Danny Drinkwater amid allegations he was injured on a night out.

The report claims representatives from Chelsea have been in regular contact with Drinkwater. The contact is thought to have been based around a duty of care to Drinkwater, rather than of a disciplinary nature with a desire to leave that side of things to Burnley.

Drinkwater was set to speak with Burnley boss Sean Dyche on Monday and Daily Mail claim it is unlikely Burnley will seek an early termination of a loan deal which runs until January.
