With the summer transfer window now shut down, Chelsea FC have submitted their 25-man squad for the upcoming campaign.
As required by the Premier League, the Blues also have a list of U21 players eligible to play for the senior team.
The Premier League rules require that each team’s squad list should contain at least 8 homegrown players. Thus, the number of players who do not fulfil the “Home Grown Player” (HGP) criteria should not surpass 17. This probably led to Frank Lampard letting a number of first team players leave the club either on loan or permanent deals.
Furthermore, each club should register an additional list of U21 players who are eligible for the first-team selection throughout the season over and above the 25-man senior squad.
