Chelsea will host Grimsby Town in the League Cup third round tie at Stamford Bridge tonight.
Blues boss Frank Lampard has revealed that the Carabao Cup is a competition he wants to win, having won the League Cup twice as a player.
Speaking ahead of the game, Lampard revealed that he will make a number of changes to his team and wants to give some minutes to the Chelsea youngsters.
The likes of Cesar Azpilicueta, Mason Mount, Jorginho and Tammy Abraham have been heavily used and will be given a rest for this game ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash with Brighton.
Chelsea will play six games in 28 days – including pivotal Champions League matches against Lille and Ajax, and this means Lampard must find a way to rotate his squad.
Chelsea youngsters Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James are expected to make their return from long-term injury in this clash, while Marc Guehi, Ian Maatsen and Billy Gilmour having not featured for the U23s could make the team as well.
Lampard is a huge fan of Gilmour who got his debut in the 2-2 draw with Sheffield United, coming on as a late substitute for that game.
Michy Batshuayi has had some impressive cameo performances coming on from the bench and is expected to start. The likes of Christian Pulisic and Pedro will get a run-in, as Lampard hands rest to Willian and Mason Mount.
