Mason Mount had to be replaced after just 16 minutes after a lunging tackle from former Arsenal player Francis Coquelin.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard replaced the injured Mount with Pedro but several Chelsea fans feel Christian Pulisic should have been chosen instead.

The game against Valencia was the second game in a row that Pulisic had failed to make an appearance for Chelsea. He also didn’t play in the 5-2 victory over Wolves on Saturday.

Lampard explained after the game against Valencia why he opted for Pedro instead of Pulisic to replace the injured Mount.

When quizzed about the decision not to play Pulisic, Lampard said: “He is in the plans.

“We have got the squad and the wingers to choose from. With Pedro’s experience in the Champions League, it was a decision to make, but Christian is well in the plans.”

Do you agree with Lampard’s reason for replacing Mount with Pedro instead of Pulisic?
