Following Chelsea’s 2-1 loss to Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has urged his players to put pressure on themselves to play like they did against Liverpool in the second half.
Despite Chelsea being 11th on the table, 10 points behind leaders Liverpool, Lampard insists he’s optimistic about the future.
Lampard said: “I have a belief in where we’re going and I know what I want from them and I saw loads of things in the second-half.
“The way we switched the play, the way we were aggressive in our play, the energy we expended and the way we put a team like Liverpool on the back foot, that’s what I wanted from us.
“It needs to be week in, week out. It can’t be 45 minutes against Sheffield United or 45 minutes against Leicester.
“It needs to be that second-half [against Liverpool] regularly.
“We need to put pressure on ourselves to play like that and then we will be okay.”
