Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi is back in training after suffering a partial rupture of his Achilles tendon in April.
Hudson-Odoi underwent successful surgery just days after suffering the injury, returned to full training last month and has now been earmarked to step up his return with a first appearance in almost five months.
Many had hoped the 18 year old would be part of the squad that would play against Wolves this Saturday but Hudson-Odoi won’t travel with the squad.
Hudson-Odoi won’t feature in the squad for the game against Wolves because he would feature in the U23s game against Brighton at Stamford Bridge on Friday night.
Following Frank Lampard’s mixed start to life as Chelsea boss, Hudson-Odoi’s return would be a welcome addition to Lampard’s squad.
Hudson-Odoi is close to signing a new Chelsea contract reportedly worth £180,000. The 18 year old was keen on leaving Chelsea in January after submitting a transfer request, but the arrival of Lampard appears to have convinced Hudson-Odoi that his long-term future remains in Stamford Bridge.
