Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has been absent from Chelsea games at Stamford Bridge for over a year now due to an ongoing visa dispute with the UK government.
Abramovich used to be a regular feature at the Bridge, but hasn’t been seen in recent months.
Former Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic wants Roman back at the Bridge and he believes that the Russian billionaire is an important icon at the club.
The 35-year-old is currently playing in Russia with Zenit St Petersburg, but he still has an eye on his former club where he won three Premier League titles, the Champions League, the Europa League and so many other honours.
“This is a new Chelsea team,” Ivanovic told FourFourTwo. “The club didn’t have the perfect season last year, but still finished third.
“Chelsea need Roman Abramovich back. That’s the most important thing for all the fans. We want to see him at Stamford Bridge, then Chelsea will be among the best teams in Europe once again.
“He’s been one of the most important people in my career, and I appreciate everything he’s done for me. Whenever I had a difficult moment at Chelsea, he always believed in me. I owe him a lot.”
