If Chelsea knew how to protect a lead, the Blues would probably have gained four extra points in the Premier League.
Frank Lampard’s side have dropped points from winning positions twice this season, and the ones that will be painful for Chelsea fans is the 2-2 draw against Sheffield United. Chelsea were 2-0 up at half-time, but ended up drawing the game to the dismay of Chelsea fans.
Kurt Zouma conceded an own goal in stoppage time, and Frank Lampard has been criticised for not handling the situation well.
Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has advised Lampard to take a cue from Jose Mourinho and try to play dirty at times.
“Winning games is a hard thing to do when you’ve lost your best player, and one of the best players in the world in Hazard,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“Frank is up against it. I think he’ll get patience, but at the moment, I think you don’t always have to entertain. Do a Mourinho!
“You sometimes think in a job: ‘Oh, I have to keep entertaining here, otherwise the fans are going to get the hump!’ In the end, you don’t need to do that, you need to be clued up, take the three points.”
