Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi had looked to leave Chelsea for Bayern Munich last season over a lack of first team opportunities.
The 18 year old signed a new five year contract with the Blues on Thursday after seeing Chelsea boss Frank Lampard put faith in youth at the club.
Lampard has revealed he contacted Hudson-Odoi immediately after he was made Chelsea boss. According to Lampard, he wanted Hudson-Odoi to know he was part of his plans at Chelsea.
“Pretty much as soon as the job I made contact with him to make him aware that I wanted him to be part of the plans,” said Lampard.
“We spoke in pre-season when we were in Dublin.
“He’s a young lad who has come through the academy. The club worked hard with him and he worked hard to get into the first team.
“For me it felt that it’s what everybody wanted.
“It went away from me slightly because the club will deal with the contract but I wanted to make it clear that I wanted him at the club, because I believe in his talent.
“I also know that now the five-year contract is signed the hard work really starts for him.”
