For the second consecutive game, Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud failed to make the matchday squad.
With Chelsea boss Frank Lampard preferring Tammy Abraham up front this season, many fans expected Giroud to get game time against Grimsby in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
Lampard has now revealed why the 32 year old striker missed the game against Grimsby.
According to Lampard, Giroud missed the win over Grimsby Town due to illness.
Lampard confirmed: “He’s been ill.
“It was an illness which took him out of Liverpool and he’s still on the recovery.”
Get well soon Giroud.
