Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has proven that he can be a beast this season having scored seven goals in the Premier League and is among the top scorers already.
Abraham had scored seven goals in his last three games, but the 21-year-old couldn’t continue his scoring feat against Liverpool.
Abraham missed a quality chance against the Reds when left one on one with Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian and he was named as Chelsea’s worst player against Liverpool by The Sun.
On Tammy Abraham being Chelsea’s worst player, The Sun wrote: “Had a golden opportunity to level after beating the offside trap but Adrian saved in the one-on-one battle.
“Abraham looked isolated on his own and was given no breathing space by Van Dijk or Matip.”
Speaking after the Liverpool game, Lampard challenged the 21-year-old to raise up his standard and go through games until the end especially against top sides.
“He was struggling a little bit at the end and again I think it’s what happens with Tammy,” Lampard told Sky Sports after Sunday’s defeat.
“I think he’s had a fantastic start to the season, but now the levels are: can you get through games?
“I’m not saying today, because he had a little bit of knock, but he came off against Wolves after an incredible performance individually, but the thing with young players sometimes is, yeah, can Tammy get through games?
“I’m asking a lot of him, and I thought again he gave his everything as he always does, and he’ll be alright Tammy.
“But it wasn’t a bad chance for us to try and get Michy [Batshuayi] on the pitch anyway, try and give something different up front, it just wasn’t going to fall for us in the end today.”
