Mason Mount suffered an ankle injury in Chelsea’s 1-0 Champions League loss to Valencia last week and there were fears the midfielder could spend time on the sidelines.
Ahead of the game against Liverpool on Sunday, Mount was a doubt but Chelsea boss Frank Lampard confirmed there was a chance Mount could play against Liverpool.
Mount played 90 minutes against Liverpool on Sunday and the midfielder has confirmed he played with a swollen ankle.
Mount said: “I iced it and it calmed down, and I realised it was not as bad as I first thought. The next day I was jogging on it a little and from then, I knew there was a chance of me being involved (against Liverpool).
“There is still swelling there now but it is solid and I felt good and trained the day before. I was pretty positive the day before the game that I would be involved.”
What do you think of Lampard’s decision to start Mount against Liverpool despite having a fit Christian Pulisic?
