Mason Mount has been impressive for Chelsea since pre-season, and the 20-year-old midfielder is already one of the best players for the Blues this season which has seen him get a call-up to the England national team.
The 20-year-old has already scored twice in four Premier League games for the Blues, and he’s keen to add assists to his game.
He said: “It was a special, special moment for me, but for the Academy as well – all the coaches I have worked with throughout the years, so many I could name, I would say that goal was for them.
“I’m very happy with the way I’ve started. Hopefully the goals will keep coming and I can add assists to my game as well. It’s a young team, we’re ready to go, we’re fighting in every game, and there is so much passion in the team to want to win and to perform in the Chelsea shirt.”
Mount has been likened to Chelsea legend Frank Lampard who was a high scoring midfielder during his playing days, and Ross Barkley has admitted they both share similar traits.
Barkley said: “I believe he will be in the squad 100 per cent when it comes to it. Then it is down to him but I believe he will be [in the England Euro 2020 team] because of how good he is and the things I have seen this season.
“The way he arrives in the box and gets shots away early, it is similar to Lamps. He has a really good technique with how he finishes as well. He is a brilliant player.”
