See the ratings below
Caballero: Had little to do all game. Made one simple save in the first half, and saw Matthew Green fire in a first-half volley beyond him. 5/10
James: Was a beast on the right flank. Played a key role in Batshuayi’s first goal, assisted Kurt Zouma’s goal and capped off a wonderful performance with a fine finish from outside the box. 9/10.
Marc Guehi: Very impressive performance in defence. The debutant was calm and composed beside Zouma. 7/10
Zouma: Was strong at the back. Brought experience to the side and got a good goal to keep Chelsea going. 8/10
Alonso: Very calm and experienced performance on the left flank. Was a handful down the left flank. 7/10
Gilmour: Not hard to see why he’s highly rated and likened to Barcelona legend Xavi. Bossed the midfield and looked comfortable spraying passes all over the pitch. 9/10
Barkley: Got a good goal to start the fire early on, impressed with his runs from the middle and always looked a threat. 7/10
Pulisic: Couldn’t get on the scoresheet. Had some good spells, but still looks like he hasn’t fully settled into the team. Assisted Batshuayi’s second goal. 6.5/10
Pedro: Stayed calm to score his penalty. Brought experience to the side, and had one or two good moments. 6.5/10
Hudson-Odoi: Could easily have scored a hat-trick but was denied by the keeper so many times. Caused too many problems for the League Two side and eventually scored a late goal to seal a very fine performance. 8/10
Batshuayi: Got a brace and an assist. Looked too good for Grimsby’s defence. They couldn’t cope with him. 9/10
Maatsen: Came on for Alonso in the 67th minute and bombarded the left flank. Very impressive performance. 6/10
Anjorin: Came on for Pedro in the 67th minute and was very impressive. Had some good runs and some nice touches on the ball. 6/10
