Christian Pulisic was signed by Chelsea earlier this year for a fee of £57m from Borussia Dortmund, but the 20-year-old American only made the move during the summer as he remained with Dortmund until the end of the season.
After five competitive games for the Blues, Pulisic is yet to find the back of the net, and has seen one effort ruled out by a marginal offside call, but he has shown that he can play a key role for the Blues this season.
The 20-year-old has revealed that he’s amazed at what he has seen in the Premier League so far and has hailed the influence of Chelsea manager Frank Lampard on his game and the young Blues players.
Pulisic said according to Associated Press: “It’s amazing. I mean, it’s everything I hoped it would be and more. It’s incredible.
“It worked out really well, for sure. Frank’s a great guy and he’s helped me so much and he understands where I’m coming from and he’s done a really good job and helped me, teaching us, especially a lot of the younger guys on the team.”
It’s been a difficult start to the season for Frank Lampard as he has only won one competitive game out of five, and has conceded nine times in four Premier League games already.
Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson believes Lampard should be given manager of the season if he leads Chelsea to a top four finish.
Merson said: “I like Frank, and I think you get experience as you go. Would somebody else have played Mason Mount? He’s a special player. And now Tammy Abraham has four goals.
“We only do this by learning, you don’t get five games down the road and say: ‘You’re out of the team,’ if they’re not performing. You go back to square one like that. Patience, patience. These are young kids.
“Man City and Liverpool are so far ahead of everybody now, this is a different situation. If Chelsea finished in the top four this season, Frank would get manager of the year, in my opinion.”
