Chelsea star Willian scored his first goal of the season as Chelsea beat Brighton 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The goal was Willian’s first since March when he netted in the Europa League against Dynamo Kiev, and it was a very important goal for the Blues that calmed the nerves at Stamford Bridge.
Jorginho had scored a 50th minute penalty just after half-time, but it took until the 76th minute before Willian scored the second goal that calmed nerves at the Bridge.
“We needed it,” Willian said of the victory.
“We have been working hard every day, every game and this time we finally got the result, got the three points at home and we have to carry on,’ he added. ‘We have to continue in the same way.
“The game could have been 3-0 or 4-0. In the first half we created a lot of chances and I think we have to be more clinical. We cannot miss chances like this and we have to now think about the next game.”
Willian was delighted to see Chelsea return to winning ways and took to social media to congratulate his teammates for a job well done.
