Chelsea youngster Reece James has dropped a post on social media hinting that his recovery from injury is right on track.
The young right-back got the ankle injury while playing for England U20s in the Toulon Tournament in June and has failed to play a competitive game since then.
James posted a picture of himself running at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground, accompanied by the message: ‘It’s been a while.’
James is expected to play a key role for Frank Lampard’s side this season, having had an outstanding season in the Championship last term.
The 19-year-old spent the season on loan with Wigan Athletic last season, and won the club’s Player of the Year and Goal of the Season awards, and also earned a place in the Championship Team of the Year.
Chelsea have loaned out second choice right-back Davide Zappacosta, with James expected to rival Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta in the right-back position.
However, the experienced Azpilicueta has backed James to make a big impact at Chelsea and has admitted that he’s willing to help him reach his potential.
Cesar said: “I am here to help everybody and he is an amazing kid. He has a very good mentality.
“No one has any doubts about his talent on the pitch and hopefully he can be a very important player.”
