Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount suffered a sprained ankle which forced him out of Tuesday’s Champions League defeat against Valencia after 15 minutes.
Mount suffered the injury after a nasty tackle from former Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin.
Chelsea have been handed a boost after scans revealed Mason Mount’s ankle injury is not as bad as first feared.
According to The Sun, Mount’s X-ray revealed there was no ligament damage and the 20 year old has an outside chance of recovering in time to face the Premier League leaders Liverpool on Sunday.
Mount will reportedly have another scan later this week once the swelling subsides.
Mount has been an important player for Chelsea this season, scoring three goals in five Premier League appearances.
