Chelsea led 2-0 at halftime against Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge thanks to two Tammy Abraham goals but the Blues conceded twice in the second half to deny Frank Lampard a first home win.
Chelsea blew a two goal lead by conceding two cheap goals in the second-half. The Blues conceded on3 immediately after the restart and conceded a second late in the game, as Kurt Zouma put the ball into his own net late on.
Speaking after the game, Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham admitted he was disappointed and the entire team were disappointed with the outcome of the game.
“We are all disappointed with this draw,” Abraham said.
“We’re Chelsea and no team should be able to come here and play better than us, and Sheffield United were better than us in the second half. It wasn’t good enough from all of us. I take responsibility as well being one of the players out there.
“We were gifted two goals in the first half and from there we should have killed the game off, come out in the second half and upset the opposition. We know Sheffield United will always fight till the end.
“We should have frustrated them, but them scoring an early goal in the second half didn’t help. From there we had to relax, calm everything down, and go out there and win the game.”
Chelsea could easily have won the game with a higher margin, but it wasn’t to be and Tammy Abraham believes that it just wasn’t Chelsea’s day.
“It just wasn’t our day,” added Abraham. “We have to go on the international break now and calm back down with all our heads focused and screwed on. We need to get these wins.”
