Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has seen a number of important players on the sidelines due to injury, but the boss will be impressed as his side will swell over the coming weeks as players make return from long-term injuries.
Chelsea youngsters Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James are both set to return to action at Stamford Bridge tonight, as Chelsea’s development squad take on Brighton.
Hudson-Odoi has been out with a ruptured Achilles tendon since late April. He impressed for the Blues last season particularly in the Europa League before forcing his way into the Chelsea first team under Maurizio Sarri. Hudson-Odoi was having a dream season before suffering a ruptured Achilles towards the end of the season.
Meanwhile James suffered an ankle injury this summer while away on England international duty, after excelling on loan with Wigan.
The 19 year old returned to training this week and according to Goal, he was involved in a behind closed doors friendly match.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has high hopes for the 19-year-old right-back and he was the reason Lampard allowed Davide Zappacosta to leave for Roma on loan over the summer.
Ahead of Saturday’s game against Wolves, Lampard will welcome four players back from injury.
N’golo Kante, Antonio Rüdiger, Pedro and Mateo Kovacic are also expected to be available for selection for Saturday’s game against Wolves.
Hudson-Odoi and Reece James will be unavailable for selection as they are expected to feature for the U23s against Brighton on Friday in order to build their fitness.
