Chelsea youngster Ethan Ampadu, who is currently on loan at German side RB Leipzig, impressed in Wales’ win over Azerbaijan.
Wales boss Ryan Giggs has lavished praise on the 18 year old midfielder, who can also play in defence.
Giggs said: “He’s hardly played in seven or eight months and puts in a mature performance like that.
“It’s best how to manage Ethan.
“It’s very tough for him to get through ninety minutes.
“It’s the fittest he’s been for a long time.
“He’s a future leader and it’s great to see him get minutes on the pitch.
“It’s my hope that he’ll get more games and he’ll get better.”
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has previously explained why he let Ampadu join RB Leipzig on loan last season.
Lampard said: “Ethan is not here as we’re looking at the possibility of him going on loan for the season.
“I tried to sign Ethan on loan at Derby last year, so I’m a big fan, but with the minutes he played last year, I have to think of the bigger picture and the interests of Ethan and of Chelsea.
“The idea that he could play a lot of games somewhere is good for him and we haven’t brought him here while that is up in the air.”
