Chelsea beat Wolves 5-2 at the Molineux on Saturday after failing to beat Wolves in the league last season.

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has blamed bad performance and too many mistakes as the reason for his team’s loss to Chelsea.

“Bad performance, bad game,” said Nuno after his team were crushed 5-2 by Chelsea, their first home defeat in 16 matches.

“It was down to a lot of things. Too many goals, too many mistakes. We must realise what happened and don’t repeat it, work hard and don’t do it again, we have another chance on Thursday, improve bounce back, react.

“Don’t stay in the past. We know the only solution is work. This is my job. When we win everything is OK. When we lose it’s bad.”

Wolves have failed to win a league game this season despite winning six Europa League games.

Asked if the Europa League was having an impact on Wolves’ domestic form, Nuno added: “Nothing to do with that, absolutely not.

“We knew about it, we anticipated it and we worked very well through the qualifiers and play-offs.

“It’s a challenge we want to embrace, every game.

“This is a third season for us. We started in Championship and on Thursday we play in the Europa League. We are the same but we have to work hard. We don’t stay too much in the past.”
