Serie A side AC Milan regret not signing Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko on a permanent deal, according to Italian media outlet Calciomercato.
Bakayoko spent last season on loan at AC Milan and the Italian club had the option of signing him permanently for €35million.
However, they refused to pay for economic reasons and Bakayoko went to Monaco.
AC Milan have had a difficult start to the season with the Italian club 12th after just 8 games and it is believed they miss the protection in midfield Bakayoko offered them last season.
Bakayoko has returned to form while at Monaco. He has helped Monaco win three of their last four games, with the Frenchman playing 90 minutes on each occasion.
Bakayoko has refused to open up on while he failed to make it at Chelsea.
“I don’t really want to talk about Chelsea because I don’t want to get on their bad side,” he told Eurosport.
“There are reasons. There are things that aren’t explainable. Things that will stay between me and them. It didn’t click, at least not how I wanted to. Yes, there’s a bit of disappointment, but sometimes in life there’s a disappointment but you need to carry on.”
