Tammy Abraham is doing big things at the moment, and the 22-year-old Chelsea academy product is currently topping the Premier League scoring chart alongside Manchester City star Sergio Aguero.
Tammy has scored eight goals in the league this season and nine in all competitions, and he’s currently Frank Lampard’s first choice striker, ahead of Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud.
Thanks to the transfer ban, Chelsea were unable to buy a more experienced forward following the departure of Gonzalo Higuain and Alvaro Morata.
Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta has hailed Abraham and has revealed that he has always known the young forward has the potential to perform well at the top.
“I had confidence in him because I have known him since he was quite young,” said Azpilicueta.
“Every time I saw him his work ethic was very good. Last season he had an amazing spell at Aston Villa, he was a key player for them, he scored a lot of goals. I knew he was ready for us, and for the Premier League. As soon as he arrived he worked hard and wanted to help the team.
“Strikers live for goals so it’s great for him. He’s doing incredibly well and he scored an amazing goal. I’m very happy for him and I’m sure he can give us a lot more happiness in the future.”
