Despite scoring Chelsea’s only goal in our 2-1 loss to Manchester United in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi has been criticised for his performance.
“For 60 minutes [against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup], Batshuayi looked disinterested in the Carabao Cup before exploding into action to fire Chelsea level with a brilliant solo goal,” Daily Mail wrote on Michy Batshuayi.
“It encapsulated his Chelsea career to date. Dire one minute, dynamite the next.
“Barring an injury, Abraham will start at Vicarage Road and the best Batshuayi can hope for is a place as substitute.
“Coming off the bench to score a match-winning goal against Ajax last week offered at least some hope that there might be more to this season than a peripheral role for the former Marseille man.
“His goal on Wednesday night was reason for further optimism.
“But for the most part, he was rarely involved and when he was Batshuayi – at least before his goal – offered very little, certainly not enough to have Lampard thinking about a change up.”
