Ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash between Chelsea and Burnley at Turf Moor, Burnley boss Sean Dyche has revealed the difference he has seen in Frank Lampard’s Chelsea.
Dyche believes Lampard is benefiting from having a strong squad at his disposal at Chelsea but insists Lampard has made some tactical tweaks to the Chelsea team.
“It seems from the outside that he has had a learning curve in the Championship,” Dyche said.
“Some of the things he learned from that he will have put in at Chelsea.
“He is obviously, with all due respect, dealing with a better group of players.
“A lot is made of the young players and they are doing really well but there is some really good players around them.
“If you look at that squad on paper. It is not like he went into a group of novice hurdlers.
“But he is adding to that and adding his own way as to how he wants the team to perform.
“You could see the pressing lines and the energy and the sharpness.
“The back line tries to advance and shorten the pitch, tactical things that he has looked at it and equally trying to find some pockets of quality by using the young players and that bit of freedom which comes with a young player.
“They don’t really over-think it and his challenge will be to keep that going over the course of a season and the ups and downs that come with a season.”
