Jorginho has been very impressive for Chelsea this season, and the Italy international has gone from being a boo boy to winning the hearts of every Chelsea fan.
Jorginho was in display at the Bridge against Newcastle as the Blues controlled the game and had 71.1 per cent of the ball, with no player in possession more often than Jorginho (11.1 per cent of the time).
Jorginho also had the most touches (115), and completed the most passes (96).
Jorginho had a high pass completion rate of 93 per cent, which was second of those players who started the game, behind only Kurt Zouma (94 per cent).
Jorginho was also the top tackler on the pitch, winning all five of the challenges he went in for.
The Italian has been playing with his heart out for the club, and no wonder he was given the vice-captain role by Chelsea manager Frank Lampard.
Jorginho is a leader on the pitch and leads by example. Explaining why Lampard chose Jorginho as vice-captain, Lampard said: “Jorginho is a character, a driver and that is very evident to see on the pitch.
“He wants to win, I know that should be the basics for everyone but to show it in everything you do is important and I think he does that.
“From pre-season, he’s been one of the leaders in the dressing room and on the pitch.
“I’m pleased with him and the young players need to look up to that kind of attitude that he has daily.”
