Michy Batshuayi came off the bench to score a late goal to help Chelsea beat Ajax 1-0 on Wednesday at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Batshuayi combined with fellow substitute Christian Pulisic to get the winner five minutes from time.

Following the 1-0 win over Ajax, Chelsea became the first team to stop Ajax from scoring in 18 Champions League home games.

That run included games against Real Madrid, Juventus and last season’s Champion League finalists Tottenham.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard admitted the Blues deserved to beat Ajax.

Lampard told BT Sport: “I’m so happy.

“To come here – they’re a really strong side – and deserve to beat them means that you are top all over the pitch.

“They were brilliant.”
