Chelsea boss Frank Lampard will be gutted at what he has seen with the international break after four of his players suffered injuries while away on international duty.
Andreas Christensen, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Reece James all picked up injuries while away on international duty.
Lampard will be hoping that the injuries are slight ones, but it might seem that Christensen might be out for a little while having picked up a groin problem in Denmark’s win over Switzerland.
Christensen was missing from Denmark’s line-up today as the Danes defeated Luxemburg 4-0 in a friendly fixture.
Lampard will definitely go for the defensively combination of Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori for his centre-back positions as Antonio Rudiger draws close to a return from injury.
The 26 year old centre-back has finally shaken off the freak groin problem he suffered at Wolves. However, the game against Newcastle might be too soon for Rudiger who might be named on the bench for the game against the Magpies.
