Chelsea are currently fifth in the league as Frank Lampard’s side is gradually making their way high up the table. In fact, the Blues are just two points behind second placed Manchester City.
Lampard’s side has risen above the expectations of many as the Blues were doomed to crash this season in the eyes of many critics.
Chelsea had lost the tactical prowess of Maurizio Sarri who decided to dump the club for Juventus, star man Eden Hazard decided to make dream move to Real Madrid, Frank Lampard was tagged a rookie manager, and worst of all the Blues were hit with a transfer ban.
In the eyes of many pundits, there was no coming out of this for Chelsea, and the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United were rated above Chelsea.
After eight games played thus far, pundits are now beginning to see how successful Frank Lampard’s project is becoming.
Former Chelsea manager Avram Grant firmly believes that the Blues are the currently the third-best team in the Premier League and are performing better than the Gunners, United and Spurs.
Grant told The Athletic: “Chelsea have a good coach, with good players. It is a good environment, they are more relaxed in a good way that is healthy for the players.
“Apart from Manchester City and Liverpool, the other ‘big’ teams are not so good. Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham are not performing well.
“On the football side, Chelsea have been better than all of them. I think Chelsea can be good this season and build well for the future.”
