Christian Pulisic’s difficult start to the season continued after he was left in tears following his substitution in United State’s 2-0 loss to Canada.

Pulisic was clearly frustrated by the decision to take him off while the score was 0-0 and he was captured appearing to say “I’m fine”, as he argued with USA head coach Gregg Berhalter after the match.

Moments after the heated exchange, Pulisic looked to be in tears as he held his head in his hands.

Berhalter revealed after the game that Pulisic was substituted because he had been suffering from flu-like symptoms and a light fever.

Berhalter also acknowledged that Christian wanted to continue, but it was probably not too safe for his health.

Pulisic later explained his outburst following his substitution against Canada.

He said: “I was fine, I was just having troubles these past few days, but I was fine today.

“I just felt that I could’ve helped my team more. No one wants to come out of the game. I was just frustrated about that.”
