The Blues are reportedly confident that the transfer ban imposed on the club by FIFA will be lifted by the Court of Arbitration and are preparing to sign players in January.
According to The Sun, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has made signing a back-up striker to Tammy Abraham his top target, with Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson and RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner both on the club’s radar.
Wilson has scored five Premier League goals in nine appearances for Bournemouth this season while Werner has scored eight goals in eleven appearances for RB Leipzig.
The report claims the Chelsea board are happy to back Lampard in the transfer market due to the team’s performances under his management.
Premier League rivals Manchester United are also reportedly interested in signing Werner.
Michy Batshuayi is currently back-up to Tammy Abraham and he scored Chelsea’s winner against Ajax on Wednesday.
