The season didn’t start on a good note for Chelsea and Frank Lampard as the Blues were beaten 4-0 by Manchester United in the opening weekend of the new Premier League season.

For the first eight games in all competitions, Frank Lampard’s side struggled to get wins and the Blues won only two games, with losses to Manchester United, Liverpool and Valencia while also missing out on the UEFA Super Cup following a penalty defeat to Liverpool.

Not many expected Frank Lampard to weather the storm and have a successful season with Chelsea, but the Blues are in good form at the moment and have now won their last seven games in all competitions.

Lampard has now hailed the Chelsea squad and believes he’d try to keep the group going.

“We had a tough start, but I believed in the group and I believe in them daily – I’m just really pleased where we’ve got to,” Lampard told Goal.

“We’re working hard, but we have to be aware we can improve and if we get overconfident in this moment and start making crazy expectations on ourselves from within – let everyone else talk.

“From within, it’s game by game and how we can get better day by day. At the minute we have that feeling and it’s my job to keep that going.”
