Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi scored two wonder goals as England U21s defeated Austria U21 5-1.

The 18-year-old opened the scoring just after 12 minutes as he fired in a first time volley to finish off a good England move. If his first goal was awesome, the second was extraordinary as he made a solo run to smash the ball beyond the reach of the goalkeeper.

Hudson-Odoi’s teammate for club and country Marc Guehi has admitted that Hudson-Odoi’s goal left him speechless and he revealed that he wasn’t too surprised as he has seen the winger score so many of those goals since their time in the Under 7s in the Chelsea academy.

“I was speechless. That was an amazing goal,” the 19-year-old told Goal. “It was a great counter-attack and he’s the type of player that can do stuff like that so I am really over the moon for him.

“I wasn’t even surprised, I expect it from him. I have seen it since we were seven years old. I don’t want to put too much pressure on him because he is still young and developing but I think people should expect a lot. People should be excited about his future.”

Hudson-Odoi is well ahead of his peers and was the subject of multiple transfer bids from German champions Bayern Munich, but he ended up staying back at Chelsea as the club refused the advances of Bayern, and he has gone on to sign a five-year deal that has made him one of the highest earning teenagers in the world.

Guehi has now revealed that Hudson-Odoi’s status hasn’t affected him at all.

“He’s still the same funny lad,” he said. “He likes to interact with people and he’s still the same down to earth guy.”
