Tammy Abraham earned a first senior call up since 2017 last week after a fantastic start to the season under Frank Lampard.
Abraham has scored nine goals in 11 appearances for Chelsea this season and was a surprise omission from Gareth Southgate’s squad in September.
Chelsea academy graduate Dominic Solanke, who earned his first senior call up in the same squad as Abraham and came through the ranks at Chelsea alongside Abraham, has backed Abraham to become an England squad regular.
“Is Abraham ready to step up? Yeah you can see what he is doing,” Solanke said.
“”He has had a fantastic start to the season and is doing what he is doing for Chelsea so hopefully he can take that onto the international stage as well.”
Solanke also admitted he hopes to play for England alongside Abraham.
“Yeah I think it would be fun,” he said. “It’s nice to see everyone doing so well and hopefully we can play again together for England one day.
“It’s good to see that Gareth is calling up the youth, it gives us all a chance to push for that.”
