Chelsea midfielder Jorginho is set to appear at his first major tournament for Italy.
Italy have qualified for Euro 2020 after winning all their seven qualifying matches to date including Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Greece, a game in which Jorginho scored from the penalty spot.
Italy failed to qualify for the World Cup two years ago for the first time in 60 years and Jorginho insists qualifying for the Euro 2020 is well deserved.
“It’s a fantastic result, especially considering all the horrible times we went through two years ago,” Jorginho said.
“We deserved this achievement and are truly happy, because we wanted it so much and we fought for it.
“We’re proving ourselves to be a good group of players, we’re all on the same page, and it’s fun to work in those circumstances.
“The Olimpico crowd was excellent and I am sure it’ll be even more passionate next June. We’ll do everything to entertain the supporters, as it’s wonderful to play in that atmosphere.”
