Ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League game against Newcastle United on Saturday, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has confirmed midfielder N’Golo Kante and centre-back Andreas Christensen are unavailable for selection due to injury.

Kante, Christensen and Mateo Kovacic picked up knocks while representing their countries during the international break and while Kovacic has returned to training, Kante and Christensen are still out injured.

“No, N’Golo is not fit. A small groin issue with France, he isn’t fit for Saturday,” Lampard told reporters.

“Kovacic had a knock on his thigh, but in contention.

“Andreas has a hamstring problem which is going to see him out for two weeks.”

Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since the 2-1 home loss against Liverpool, is available for selection after returning to training.
