Mateo Kovacic was the latest Chelsea player to get injured during the international break after N’Golo Kante, Andreas Christensen and Reece James all picked up knocks while away on international duty.

Kovacic was fouled by Tottenham’s Ben Davies in the build-up to Gareth Bale’s goal with the midfielder limping off and failing to emerge for the second-half.

The Blues have been handed an injury boost regarding the fitness of Kovacic.

Croatia head coach Zlatko Dalic has assured Kovacic is fine but insists the midfielder would need to be assessed.

Dalic said, according to The Sun: “He seems to be fine. He felt his knee in that challenge so we’ll see in the next few days what the diganosis is.”

It seems Kovacic would be OK for Saturday’s game against Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge.
