At the start of the season, not many gave Chelsea a chance to do well this season, and many pundits predicted that Frank Lampard’s side could even struggle to make top six.
But Chelsea are a team in form after five straight victories in all competitions, and the win against Newcastle took Chelsea to a temporary fourth place position, pending Arsenal’s game against Sheffield United on Monday night.
Many pundits are now beginning to sing Chelsea’s praise, but Blues boss Frank Lampard has revealed that he isn’t getting carried with the team’s top four status at the moment.
“It is good,” he said after the game.
“You get asked for your aims, we know we want to be challenging in the top four, and from a slightly difficult start it is a good sign that we are moving in the right direction.
“In all senses. Performance, results. All that must do is be an incentive for us.
“Football can change in an instant. Our arrival into the top four must only give us the hunger to stay there and move on.”
