It has been a tough season for Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante. Kanté has been plagued by fitness problems this season, and the midfield engine has missed a lot of games for the Blues this term.
The 28-year-old has struggled since suffering a knee injury this season and has also had ankle and hamstring problems during this campaign, restricting him to six appearances for Chelsea so far this season.
Kante has been a steady player since he came to the Premier League, with the France international playing almost every game for Leicester City and Chelsea. But it might seem that a weight of games might be affecting the powerhouse.
Ahead of this weekend’s clash, Kante is among five injured Chelsea players that won’t be available to face Burnley, and Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is frustrated with Kanté’s absence that he can’t even place a timeline on his return.
“N’Golo won’t be ready,” Lampard told the media.
“He’s training on his own with some physical work because he’s had a few issues. We need to get him right now because he’s been in and out through the season as we all know.
“There’s no real timeframe on it. I just want him fit. He’s played a lot of football for four years, he’s had a big injury off the back of last season, and maybe he’s suffering from that big injury and the fallout from that.
“It’s maybe now time to take a small step back to get his fitness up and be confident we won’t have a domino effect of small injuries.”
