Chelsea boss Frank Lampard had it tough with his appointment as the new Chelsea manager following the departure of Maurizio Sarri to Juventus.

Chelsea lost its best player in Eden Hazard and the club were also hit with a transfer ban, meaning the new manager can’t make new signings.

Lampard has often reiterated that he’s keen on leading Chelsea to a top four finish no matter the circumstances.

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand believes that a top six finish will be a positive one for Lampard, but he insists that Lampard will want to over achieve and will be pushing for a top four place.

Asked what would represent a successful season for Lampard at Chelsea, Manchester United and England legend Rio Ferdinand said: “Top six.

“Frank will be going for top four, that’s the way he is. He’s a person who wants to win and achieve and overachieve.

“But top six I think would have been the remit at the start of the season.”
