Frank Lampard spent a bulk of his playing career at Chelsea, as the 41-year-old spent 13 years a Blues player, and his banner still flies high in Stamford Bridge.

For many Chelsea fans, Lampard played with a lot of passion and is regarded as one of the greatest ever to have worn the Chelsea jersey.

Upon his appointment as Chelsea manager, there were lots of doubts as to what the team can achieve, but the Blues are beginning to show that the Lampard project is a step in the right direction.

Lampard has brought in the likes of Jody Morris and a whole lot of former Blues into his coaching crew, and Liverpool hero Emile Heskey believes that it’s a part of his success at the moment as well as a formation of players ready to play their hearts out for the club.

Heskey told bwin: “Lampard was exactly the manager Chelsea needed, he’s doing a great job.

“He had a good season Derby, but I think the real difference is the passion and knowledge both him and Jody Morris have at the club.

“They’ve been there for years, but most importantly, they were at the club before the big money came in and after it came in.

“Lampard knows the importance of bringing through youth players, but has enough experience there to mould the team around them.

Chelsea now have a team of players that are proud to wear the shirt and want to win things with the club.

“You can see how much each win means to these players and young players are always going to inject that in to the club, especially if they’ve been there for most of their youth.

“Lampard has made a great start and I think it’s only going to get better.

“I think Chelsea will be challenging for the top four this season, but realistically a top six finish would be a great job for such a young team, with no signings.”
