Former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, who is now manager of Juventus, is reportedly interested in Chelsea’s Brazilian winger Willian, according to Italian outlet CalcioMercato via Daily Mail.
Willian, who has scored two goals in his last two appearances for the Blues, appears to be edging closer to the exit door at Stamford Bridge as his contract continues to wind down.
Willian is free to negotiate a pre-contract deal with foreign clubs from January 1, with his contract set to expire next summer and Sarri is reportedly keen on making a move for Willian in January.
Willian was an important player for Sarri last season. He made 56 appearances in Sarri’s only season at Stamford Bridge, scoring eight goals and contributing 14 assists.
Barcelona are also reportedly interested in Willian and believe they are in pole position to secure his signature because they feel they can offer a superior financial package to their rivals.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard recently admitted he has no update on the Brazilian’s situation.
He said: “I have got no news on the Willian contract. That’s a conversation between Willy, his representatives and the club.
“Everyone can see I’m happy with Willy on the pitch.”
