Mason Mount netted his fourth Premier League goal of the season in Chelsea’s 4-1 victory over Southampton at the St Mary’s ground, and it has been a wonderful start to life for the young midfielder in the top division.
Mount has been buzzing this season and is a key player for Frank Lampard after impressing in the Championship last season under Lampard at Derby County.
Mount has always been tipped to be the next Frank Lampard, and the 20-year-old midfielder is doing just that as he’s scoring the goals from a midfield position.
Mount bagged 11 goals under Lampard’s tutelage at Derby last season, and he has revealed that he has the confidence to score goals even in the more difficult Premier League.
The young midfielder said: “You always have to have that confidence in yourself. I probably did not think it would go this well at the start, to have four goals, so I am delighted but I have to say thanks to my team-mates and we have been working so hard. You can see every game how much it means to us to want to win and to work hard for the manager and the fans, so it has been good.
“We have such a strong squad and there is so much competition so you have always to stay at the top of your game and work hard every day in training if you want to get into the team.”
