Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has been named in a 20-man shortlist for the prestigious Golden Boy award, which recognises the brightest young talent in European football.
Mount is among a host of Premier League stars that was named in the shortlist, as the likes of Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi and Manchester City’s Phil Foden made the shortlist. Everton striker Moise Kean and England winger Jadon Sancho also made the cut.
Juventus centre-back Matthijs de Ligt won last year’s award after a stunning season at Ajax, while some star names to have won the award in the past include Wayne Rooney, Raheem Sterling, Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, Kylian Mbappe, Cesc Fabregas and current world best Lionel Messi.
Mount had a wonderful season with Derby County last term and is currently enjoying a brilliant season with Chelsea that has earned him a spot in the England national team.
