Kepa: His defence left him exposed for Chelsea’s conceded goal. Made a couple of good saves to help win the game for Chelsea including two big defensive mistakes that he did well to cover. 7/10
Azpilicueta: Played at the right side of a back three and he did very well. Switched to his favourite right-back role and also performed well. 7/10
Zouma: Strong defensive performance from the Frenchman. 7/10
Tomori: Another assured display from the young defender. Assisted Tammy Abraham for the opener with a stunning pass and was excellent at the back. Used his pace well, was strong at the back and as well confident on the ball. His only lapse was a back pass that almost cost the team late on, but for the intervention of Kepa. 8/10
Reece James: He showed that he can whip in some dangerous crosses. Still far from his best as he looked a bit rusty at times. His tackle on Jonathan Ikone that earned him a yellow card was poor. 5/10
Alonso: Looked very assured as a left wing-back and put in some good crosses. Reverted to a left-back in the second-half and did okay. 6/10
Kante: Lacked a bit of energy as we have become accustomed to as he didn’t boss the midfield especially in the first-half. Performed better in the second period. 6/10
Jorginho: Controlled the tempo of the game with some beautiful passing. Pressed hard too as the Chelsea midfield found it difficult to cope with Lille’s intensity. 7/10
Willian: Worked very hard till he left the pitch, and he scored a classy goal to seal the three points for Chelsea. 7/10
Mount: Worked very hard for the team, but more of a quieter performance in the final third. 6/10
Tammy Abraham: Scored a massive goal with a good first time touch. Held up play well and worked hard upfront. 7/10
Subs
Hudson-Odoi: Massive impact after replacing James with over 20 minutes left. Looked lively as he came on and assisted Willian with a good move from the left flank. 7/10
Pedro: Didn’t impact the game as a late sub for Willian. 5/10
Kovacic: Worked hard to shore the midfield despite coming on as a late sub when Chelsea tried to hold on to the lead. 5/10
